Rejected, but they actually told me why

Three rounds: a recruiter screen, a video interview with the executive director, and an in-person visit to the community. The in-person visit was the highlight — I shadowed a tour and met the team I would have worked with. I was rejected after the final round, and the executive director called me personally to explain they went with an internal candidate who knew the community. That call took five minutes of their time and completely changed how I feel about the company. This is what a respectful no looks like.
