Quick process, but comp came in below the range discussed

A recruiter reached out on a Tuesday and I had a phone screen that Friday. The process moved fast: screen, a site visit with the lead tech, and a final conversation with the regional manager, all inside three weeks. Everyone I met was respectful of my time and the site visit gave me a genuinely useful picture of the day-to-day. The reason I declined: the initial range the recruiter quoted and the final offer were about $6/hour apart, and nobody acknowledged the gap until I raised it. They did not budge, and I had a stronger offer elsewhere. I would still tell other techs to interview here — just get the range in writing early.
